<p class="MsoNormal">My child, perform your tasks with humility;*</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>then you will be loved by those whom God accepts.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The greater you are, the more you must humble yourself;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>so you will find favour in the sight of the Lord.*</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">For great is the might of the Lord;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>but by the humble he is glorified.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Neither seek what is too difficult for you,</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Acts 28:17-31</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Three days later he called together the local leaders of the Jews. When they had assembled, he said to them, ‘Brothers, though I had done nothing against our people or the customs of our ancestors, yet I was arrested in Jerusalem and handed over to the Romans. When they had examined me, the Romans* wanted to release me, because there was no reason for the death penalty in my case. But when the Jews objected, I was compelled to appeal to the emperor—even though I had no charge to bring against my nation. For this reason therefore I have asked to see you and speak with you,* since it is for the sake of the hope of Israel that I am bound with this chain.’ They replied, ‘We have received no letters from Judea about you, and none of the brothers coming here has reported or spoken anything evil about you. But we would like to hear from you what you think, for with regard to this sect we know that everywhere it is spoken against.’</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>After they had fixed a day to meet him, they came to him at his lodgings in great numbers. From morning until evening he explained the matter to them, testifying to the kingdom of God and trying to convince them about Jesus both from the law of Moses and from the prophets. Some were convinced by what he had said, while others refused to believe. So they disagreed with each other; and as they were leaving, Paul made one further statement: ‘The Holy Spirit was right in saying to your ancestors through the prophet Isaiah,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“Go to this people and say,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">You will indeed listen, but never understand,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>and you will indeed look, but never perceive.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">For this people’s heart has grown dull,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>and their ears are hard of hearing,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>and they have shut their eyes;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>so that they might not look with their eyes,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>and listen with their ears,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">and understand with their heart and turn—</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>and I would heal them.”</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Let it be known to you then that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen.’*</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>He lived there for two whole years at his own expense* and welcomed all who came to him, proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Luke 9:37-50</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">On the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a great crowd met him. Just then a man from the crowd shouted, ‘Teacher, I beg you to look at my son; he is my only child. Suddenly a spirit seizes him, and all at once he* shrieks. It throws him into convulsions until he foams at the mouth; it mauls him and will scarcely leave him. I begged your disciples to cast it out, but they could not.’ Jesus answered, ‘You faithless and perverse generation, how much longer must I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.’ While he was coming, the demon dashed him to the ground in convulsions. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the boy, and gave him back to his father. And all were astounded at the greatness of God.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">While everyone was amazed at all that he was doing, he said to his disciples, ‘Let these words sink into your ears: The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into human hands.’ But they did not understand this saying; its meaning was concealed from them, so that they could not perceive it. And they were afraid to ask him about this saying.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>An argument arose among them as to which one of them was the greatest. But Jesus, aware of their inner thoughts, took a little child and put it by his side, and said to them, ‘Whoever welcomes this child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me; for the least among all of you is the greatest.’</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>John answered, ‘Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him, because he does not follow with us.’ But Jesus said to him, ‘Do not stop him; for whoever is not against you is for you.’ ******************************************************************</p>
