<p class="MsoNormal">For thus says the Lord,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">who created the heavens</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>(he is God!),</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">who formed the earth and made it</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>(he established it;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">he did not create it a chaos,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>he formed it to be inhabited!):</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I am the Lord, and there is no other.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I did not speak in secret,</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">I did not say to the offspring of Jacob,</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Assemble yourselves and come together,</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">They have no knowledge—</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>those who carry about their wooden idols,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">and keep on praying to a god</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>that cannot save.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Declare and present your case;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>let them take counsel together!</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Who told this long ago?</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Who declared it of old?</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Was it not I, the Lord?</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Children, obey your parents in the Lord,* for this is right. ‘Honour your father and mother’—this is the first commandment with a promise: ‘so that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.’</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>And, fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.</p>

Render service with enthusiasm, as to the Lord and not to men and women, knowing that whatever good we do, we will receive the same again from the Lord, whether we are slaves or free.</p>
