<p class="MsoNormal">Bel bows down, Nebo stoops,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>their idols are on beasts and cattle;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">these things you carry are loaded</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>as burdens on weary animals.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">They stoop, they bow down together;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>they cannot save the burden,</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>and weigh out silver in the scales—</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">they hire a goldsmith, who makes it into a god;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>then they fall down and worship!</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">They lift it to their shoulders, they carry it,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>they set it in its place, and it stands there;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>it cannot move from its place.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">If one cries out to it, it does not answer</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>or save anyone from trouble.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Remember this and consider,*</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>recall it to mind, you transgressors,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>remember the former things of old;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">for I am God, and there is no other;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>I am God, and there is no one like me,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">declaring the end from the beginning</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>and from ancient times things not yet done,</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Listen to me, you stubborn of heart,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>you who are far from deliverance:</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I bring near my deliverance, it is not far off,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>and my salvation will not tarry;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I will put salvation in Zion,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>for Israel my glory.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Ephesians 6:10-24</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. Put on the whole armour of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our* struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armour of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. With all of these,* take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints. Pray also for me, so that when I speak, a message may be given to me to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel,* for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it boldly, as I must speak.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>So that you also may know how I am and what I am doing, Tychicus will tell you everything. He is a dear brother and a faithful minister in the Lord. I am sending him to you for this very purpose, to let you know how we are, and to encourage your hearts.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">They came to the other side of the lake, to the country of the Gerasenes.* And when he had stepped out of the boat, immediately a man out of the tombs with an unclean spirit met him. He lived among the tombs; and no one could restrain him any more, even with a chain; for he had often been restrained with shackles and chains, but the chains he wrenched apart, and the shackles he broke in pieces; and no one had the strength to subdue him. Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always howling and bruising himself with stones. When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and bowed down before him; and he shouted at the top of his voice, ‘What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.’ For he had said to him, ‘Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!’ Then Jesus* asked him, ‘What is your name?’ He replied, ‘My name is Legion; for we are many.’ He begged him earnestly not to send them out of the country. Now there on the hillside a great herd of swine was feeding; and the unclean spirits* begged him, ‘Send us into the swine; let us enter them.’ So he gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out and entered the swine; and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the lake, and were drowned in the lake.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>The swineherds ran off and told it in the city and in the country. Then people came to see what it was that had happened. They came to Jesus and saw the demoniac sitting there, clothed and in his right mind, the very man who had had the legion; and they were afraid. Those who had seen what had happened to the demoniac and to the swine reported it. Then they began to beg Jesus* to leave their neighbourhood. As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed by demons begged him that he might be with him. But Jesus* refused, and said to him, ‘Go home to your friends, and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and what mercy he has shown you.’ And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed.</p>
