<p class="MsoNormal">Then Laban and Bethuel answered, ‘The thing comes from the Lord; we cannot speak to you anything bad or good. Look, Rebekah is before you; take her and go, and let her be the wife of your master’s son, as the Lord has spoken.’</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>When Abraham’s servant heard their words, he bowed himself to the ground before the Lord. And the servant brought out jewellery of silver and of gold, and garments, and gave them to Rebekah; he also gave to her brother and to her mother costly ornaments. Then he and the men who were with him ate and drank, and they spent the night there. When they rose in the morning, he said, ‘Send me back to my master.’ Her brother and her mother said, ‘Let the girl remain with us a while, at least ten days; after that she may go.’ But he said to them, ‘Do not delay me, since the Lord has made my journey successful; let me go, that I may go to my master.’ They said, ‘We will call the girl, and ask her.’ And they called Rebekah, and said to her, ‘Will you go with this man?’ She said, ‘I will.’ So they sent away their sister Rebekah and her nurse along with Abraham’s servant and his men. And they blessed Rebekah and said to her,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">‘May you, our sister, become</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>thousands of myriads;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">may your offspring gain possession</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>of the gates of their foes.’</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Then Rebekah and her maids rose up, mounted the camels, and followed the man; thus the servant took Rebekah, and went his way.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Now Isaac had come from* Beer-lahai-roi, and was settled in the Negeb. Isaac went out in the evening to walk* in the field; and looking up, he saw camels coming. And Rebekah looked up, and when she saw Isaac, she slipped quickly from the camel, and said to the servant, ‘Who is the man over there, walking in the field to meet us?’ The servant said, ‘It is my master.’ So she took her veil and covered herself. And the servant told Isaac all the things that he had done. Then Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent. He took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her. So Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">2 Timothy 2:14-21</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Remind them of this, and warn them before God* that they are to avoid wrangling over words, which does no good but only ruins those who are listening. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the word of truth. Avoid profane chatter, for it will lead people into more and more impiety, and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, who have swerved from the truth by claiming that the resurrection has already taken place. They are upsetting the faith of some. But God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this inscription: ‘The Lord knows those who are his’, and, ‘Let everyone who calls on the name of the Lord turn away from wickedness.’</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>In a large house there are utensils not only of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for special use, some for ordinary. All who cleanse themselves of the things I have mentioned* will become special utensils, dedicated and useful to the owner of the house, ready for every good work.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">People were bringing little children to him in order that he might touch them; and the disciples spoke sternly to them. But when Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, ‘Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.’ And he took them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>As he was setting out on a journey, a man ran up and knelt before him, and asked him, ‘Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?’ Jesus said to him, ‘Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments: “You shall not murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; You shall not defraud; Honour your father and mother.” ’ He said to him, ‘Teacher, I have kept all these since my youth.’ Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said, ‘You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money* to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.’ When he heard this, he was shocked and went away grieving, for he had many possessions.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">My soul makes its boast in the Lord;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>let the humble hear and be glad.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">O magnify the Lord with me,</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">O taste and see that the Lord is good;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>happy are those who take refuge in him.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">O fear the Lord, you his holy ones,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>for those who fear him have no want.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The young lions suffer want and hunger,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The face of the Lord is against evildoers,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>and rescues them from all their troubles.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The Lord is near to the broken-hearted,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>and saves the crushed in spirit.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Many are the afflictions of the righteous,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>but the Lord rescues them from them all.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">He keeps all their bones;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>not one of them will be broken.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Evil brings death to the wicked,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The Lord redeems the life of his servants;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.</p>
