<p class="MsoNormal">The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the Israelites: You shall say to them,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The Lord bless you and keep you;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Acts 13:1-12</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a member of the court of Herod the ruler,* and Saul. While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.’ Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia; and from there they sailed to Cyprus. When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John also to assist them. When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they met a certain magician, a Jewish false prophet, named Bar-Jesus. He was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man, who summoned Barnabas and Saul and wanted to hear the word of God. But the magician Elymas (for that is the translation of his name) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul away from the faith. But Saul, also known as Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him and said, ‘You son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, full of all deceit and villainy, will you not stop making crooked the straight paths of the Lord? And now listen—the hand of the Lord is against you, and you will be blind for a while, unable to see the sun.’ Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he went about groping for someone to lead him by the hand. When the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, for he was astonished at the teaching about the Lord.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Peter said, ‘Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for everyone?’ And the Lord said, ‘Who then is the faithful and prudent manager whom his master will put in charge of his slaves, to give them their allowance of food at the proper time? Blessed is that slave whom his master will find at work when he arrives. Truly I tell you, he will put that one in charge of all his possessions. But if that slave says to himself, “My master is delayed in coming”, and if he begins to beat the other slaves, men and women, and to eat and drink and get drunk, the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour that he does not know, and will cut him in pieces,* and put him with the unfaithful. That slave who knew what his master wanted, but did not prepare himself or do what was wanted, will receive a severe beating. But one who did not know and did what deserved a beating will receive a light beating. From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">My soul makes its boast in the Lord;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>let the humble hear and be glad.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">O magnify the Lord with me,</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">O fear the Lord, you his holy ones,</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The face of the Lord is against evildoers,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>and rescues them from all their troubles.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The Lord is near to the broken-hearted,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>and saves the crushed in spirit.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Many are the afflictions of the righteous,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>but the Lord rescues them from them all.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">He keeps all their bones;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>not one of them will be broken.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Evil brings death to the wicked,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The Lord redeems the life of his servants;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes">   </span>none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.</p>
